Our Mission

To inspire all girls to be strong, smart and bold!
We want to be recognized as the premier organization that helps all girls realize their potential and exercise their rights!
• 89% of all dollars raised goes directly into program and curricula activities
• Over 20 area schools were represented in programs
• 100% of all Girls Inc. participants remained in school and advanced to the next grade level
• 77,891 hours of quality programming were delivered to over 800 girls in 2015
• 19,096 hours of academic tutoring were provided through 2015
• Over $70,000 was awarded is need based program scholarships

Girls Inc of TN Valley is a local affiliate that began in 1976 and has grown to become an integral part of our community. Our goal is to teach girls how to advocate for themselves and their communities while building self confidence, expanding their horizons and preparing girls of today to become women of tomorrow!

1 in 4 girls will not finish high-school.
78% of girls under 17 are unhappy with their bodies.
3 in 10 girls will become pregnant before the age of 20.
1 in 15 girls will be a victim of childhood sexual abuse.

At Girls Inc... we equip girls to overcome these statistics. Our girls truly learn what it means to be strong, smart and bold. They build the skills and knowledge to be healthy and find the confidence to be exactly who they are and know that they are perfect today just as they are.

A Snapshot of Our Programs

Girls Inc. delivers life-changing programs that inspire girls to be strong, smart, and bold. Research-based curricula, delivered by trained professionals, equip girls to achieve academically; lead healthy and physically active lives; manage money; navigate media messages; and discover an interest in science, technology, engineering, and math.

Project Bold

Girls learn skills and strategies to lead safer lives in their homes, in relationships, in their communities, and online. Girls learn specific self-defense techniques and how to seek out and talk to caring adults about personal violence. Older girls also take on a community action project to advocate for a safer world for all women and girls.

Operation Smart

A program designed to provide hands-on experiences with math, science and technology. It builds girls’ skills with activities that give girls the opportunity to explore, ask questions and solve problems through projects, games and exploration.

Economic Literacy

This program provides girls with the skills and confidence they need to contribute to the economy. Girls learn how to budget, save, spend and make informed financial decisions. Girls discuss issues regarding equal pay, child care welfare and other economic issues that particularly affect women and girls.
